How map access works
Some places are available from the beginning; others become useful after a story event. Preview has an expanded map relative to Stable, but not every legacy route is already ported. A location appearing on a map does not prove that its route can be completed in your build.
Useful location groups
- Home and neighbourhood: opening story and household events.
- School and nearby activities: early character introductions and attribute tasks.
- Town shops and workplaces: items, side activities and story errands.
- Outdoor areas: exploration and events whose availability changes with progression.
Plan a map visit
Start with the objective in your phone hint, then identify the character or item involved. Look for the appropriate building or area on the map and travel when that character is likely to be available. If the room is empty, advance to another time period and check again. A locked door or absent interaction can also mean an earlier task is incomplete, so revisit your last confirmed story event.
Why maps in screenshots differ
The Stable and Preview branches differ in layout and content. A newer wide-screen screenshot can show a map that does not match a legacy 4:3 walkthrough, while a location can exist before its associated events are implemented. Match the screenshot’s build to your own before using it to troubleshoot navigation.
Cannot enter a place?
Read the phone hint, confirm the time of day, and check whether another task unlocks the location. If a screenshot from a guide looks different, make sure it depicts your build branch.
